Frequently Asked Questions

Which RAB LED wall packs does Rock Lighting stock?
Rock Lighting & Electric is an authorized RAB Lighting distributor and stocks the current RAB WPX field-adjustable family (WPX1 at 30/20/15W, WPX2 at 80/60/40W, WPX3 at 130/100/65W), all CCT-selectable with an integral photocell, in bronze and white. Rock also stocks the RAB SLIM family (SLIM15 and SLIM15N at 34/25/13W), the BRISK family (BRISKS11L, 9W, 1,142 lumens at 5000K, 120-277V), and the WP2, W17 and WPLED wall-pack families. Send the RAB catalog number from your fixture schedule and we will confirm availability and quote contractor pricing.
What is the difference between the RAB WPX1, WPX2 and WPX3?
Housing size and wattage range. The WPX1 is field-adjustable across 30W, 20W and 15W, the WPX2 across 80W, 60W and 40W, and the WPX3 across 130W, 100W and 65W. All three are CCT-selectable with an integral photocell, so one catalog number covers three wattages and several colour temperatures. Match WPX1 to doorways and pedestrian walls, WPX2 to loading docks and service areas, and WPX3 to large lots and perimeters.
Do RAB wall packs come in 480V, with an occupancy sensor, or with battery backup?
Yes, as ordering options on the WPX family. A /480 suffix gives 480V operation on the WPX2 and WPX3, a /MVS suffix adds an RAB MVS occupancy sensor on the WPX1, WPX2 and WPX3, and an /E suffix adds battery backup on the WPX2. A W in the catalog number denotes the white finish, for example WPX2W or WPX3W/480/MVS.
Is Rock Lighting an authorized RAB Lighting distributor?
Yes. Rock Lighting & Electric is an authorized RAB Lighting distributor and dealer, stocking RAB LED wall packs for commercial and industrial exteriors, with contractor pricing on request and nationwide shipping.
What is an LED wall pack?
A wall pack is an outdoor luminaire mounted on the exterior wall of a building to light entrances, walkways, loading areas, and perimeters for security and visibility. LED wall packs have largely replaced older HID units for their efficiency, long life, and instant-on operation.
What wattage wall pack do I need?
It depends on mounting height, the area to cover, and the light level you want. Lower-wattage units suit doorways and small areas, while higher-output models light larger lots and perimeters. Most current wall packs are wattage-selectable so you can tune output on site: the RAB WPX range alone covers 15W through 130W across three housing sizes.
Do wall packs have dusk-to-dawn (photocell) control?
Many do. The RAB WPX family ships with an integral photocell as standard for automatic dusk-to-dawn operation, and a /MVS ordering option adds motion sensing so the fixture boosts output only when activity is detected. Other families include a photocell receptacle instead of an integral cell.
What does full-cutoff or dark-sky friendly mean?
Full-cutoff optics direct light downward and limit uplight and glare, reducing light trespass and sky glow. Dark-sky friendly fixtures help meet local outdoor-lighting ordinances and are a good choice near residential areas.
Are RAB wall packs eligible for utility rebates?
Rebate eligibility generally depends on the fixture being DLC listed, and listing status varies by catalog number and by program. Send us the catalog numbers on your schedule and we will confirm current listing status and point you to the applicable program.
