Lutron RadioRA 3 vs Caséta: Which System Fits Your Project?
Both are Lutron. Both are excellent. But RadioRA 3 and Caséta are built for very different jobs — and picking the wrong one means either overpaying for a small space or hitting a ceiling on a big one. Here's the straight comparison.

Caséta — best for smaller, simpler homes
Caséta is Lutron's accessible line. It's set up through the Lutron app — by a homeowner or a pro — controls up to 75 devices (one Smart Hub plus one repeater), and suits homes up to about 2,500 sq ft of RF coverage. You run it with Pico remotes and the Lutron app. It's reliable and easy — but its customization and automation are limited compared with a professionally programmed system.
Choose Caséta when: the project is a smaller home or a single-area upgrade, the budget is tight, and the client wants simple app + remote control.
RadioRA 3 — built for larger, custom projects
RadioRA 3 is the professional step up. It scales to 400 devices (200 ClearConnect Type A + 200 Type X across up to 4 processors) and covers homes up to roughly 7,500 sq ft. It's programmed by a qualified installer, adds Sunnata keypads, and supports the customization and integration that whole-home projects demand.
Choose RadioRA 3 when: the home is larger, the device count is high, or the client wants custom scenes, keypad control, and integration with AV, shades, and climate.
